Darren MacPhee was reported missing by Devon RCMP on Thursday, May 9.
Mr MacPhee hasn’t been seen or heard from since leaving home on his mountain bike for a ride on trails in his hometown of Devon - a small town about 25 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
Mr MacPhee is the son of Margaret and Sinclair MacPhee of Montague and the nephew of Florence Harris of Murray Harbour.
“We’re begging for information,” Mrs Harris said.
Mrs Harris said air search and rescue as well as ground teams have been searching the trails where Mr MacPhee was last seen on his bike. But no leads as to his whereabouts have come up yet as a result of those efforts.
“We’re scared he’s someplace we can’t find him,” Mrs Harris said. “We don’t know if he got hit by a car or what might have happened to him.”
She said Mr MacPhee was travelling by himself on the trails. She wasn’t sure if he had a cellphone with him or not.
“We don’t know if he’d take it with him on the trails,” she said.
Mr MacPhee moved out west for work a few years ago, with his wife and their two young children. His wife has one other child the couple raise together.
Mr MacPhee’s wife has been keeping in touch with her mother-in-law on PEI through the Internet.
“She doesn’t know any more information than what police have provided, though,” Mrs Harris said.
Mr MacPhee was last seen wearing blue jeans or navy rugby pants, a t-shirt, black leather jacket, black shoes, and possibly baseball cap. He was riding a black and red mountain bike.
